Yaso is developing a portfolio of novel compounds based upon PPCM, a relatively large molecule that is an attachment and fusion inhibitor of virus and bacteria, which can be modified to serve as a vector drug carrying a payload of more active drugs, such as nitrous oxide bearing donors. PPCM's properties make it an ideal topical preventative for a variety of diseases.

Yaso’s initial PPCM application is a contraceptive vaginal gel with microbicidal activity.  In vitro and animal studies indicate PPCM-gel prevents infection by blocking binding and entry of the virus or bacteria into host cells.   It prevents contraception by inducing premature acrosomal loss, thus rendering sperm infertile. We are currently in pre-clinical development, and highlights to date include:  

• Excellent in vitro and animal study results, establishing benchmarks for safety and efficacy.

• Prevents fusion and entry of bacteria and virus to host cells. Contraceptive but not cytotoxic.

• Effective against all clades of HIV, including clade C as well as Herpes Simplex.

• Unlike other polyanions, PPCM is effective in semen and vaginal secretions.

• Inexpensive and easily combined with excipients for a consumer-friendly product.

 Our multi-application development plan includes launching OTC human reproductive health products, while developing and licensing complementary products for related markets that leverage core research, thus diversifying our portfolio. In this manner, Yaso will deliver maximum shareholder value with efficient use of funding.
